Loose Leaf Tea

There are powerful antioxidants and polyphenols in natural tea leaves making tea a great source for cold and flu prevention and relief. With anti-inflammatory properties it eliminates harmful free radicals and bacteria while soothing the throat and chest and providing great fatigue relief. The least processed, most delicate with the highest levels of antioxidants, catechins and amino acids is White tea giving it a light, mild flavor. Its potency is known to fight and prevent cancerous cells, viral infections, including HIV, and harmful pathogens from forming or dwelling in the body boosting and protecting the immune system. So, fighting cold and flu symptoms with white tea provides optimum results beyond cold and flu season. Simply brew 3 – 5 grams of loose leaf white tea for about 7 oz. of water.

Place about 5g of loose leaf white tea into a porcelain or glass drinking vessel or teapot. Pour boiled water (about 80-85°) (175-185°) into the drinking vessel. About 1 minute later, when tea leaves unfurl in the vessel, separate tea and water. For the following brews, separate the tea water, within 15-30 seconds. When tea becomes weak from multiple brews, repeat the process with fresh tea leaves.

Lemon based teas such as lemongrass, lemon verbena and lemon balm teas are an excellent immune booster with high concentrations of Vitamin C. The ingredients are perfect for cold and flu season with an abundance of antioxidants and a beneficial energy source. Mint tea helps to loosen congestion, reduce inflammation and ease aches and pains. Blending these teas with either White, Black or Oolong teas, not only adds flavor, but enhances the overall benefit of the drink with different properties associated with each. Consuming them alone, according to your personal needs, brings great relief and prevention of cold and flu symptoms. Remember to add honey, cinnamon or lemon for natural sources of flavor.
